The Department of Arabic and Translation Studies, in collaboration with the Performing Arts Program - Community Engagement and Outreach, is proud to announce the upcoming Arabic Poetry Competition, celebrating the rich and diverse poetic traditions of the Arab world. Open to AUS students, this competition invites participants to demonstrate their mastery of Classical Arabic poetry, renowned for its deep-rooted eloquence, Nabati poetry, celebrated for its vibrant expression of Bedouin culture, and free verse, offering space for modern creativity and rhythm. Whether you are a seasoned poet or an emerging talent, this competition provides a unique platform to honor and explore the beauty and complexity of the Arabic language through its timeless art form.

Submission Deadline:

Tuesday, October 15th at 5:00pm

Details:

• Open to All AUS Students
• Classical, Nabati, and Free Verse 
• Your poems must be in Arabic. 
• You must submit your poem in written form but you may add an audio or video recording, if you like.
• You may submit up to three poems

Prizes:

• First Prize: Apple AirPods
• Second Prize: Digital Camera
• Three Third Prizes: 250 AED Amazon Gift Voucher
• Raffle 

Honors:

• Up to six students will be invited to appear alongside AUS Poet in Residence, Dr. Afra Atiq, in a public AUS Poetry and Music Jam. 

• Selected poems will be included in an ATS Arabic Literary Magazine.
